Haik Humble Eye Center is looking for a full-time ophthalmic technician/assistant. The ophthalmic assistant will work under the ophthalmologist using state of the art ocular equipment to conduct specialized testing on patients to determine visual acuity, visual defects, and ocular problems. Training will include methodology to perform cycloplegic eye testing, intra-ocular pressure measurements, history and etiology, visual fields, corneal topography, eye scans, ultrasound, minor surgery, laser procedures, as well as ophthalmic terminology and charting. This job is highly skilled and involves daily one on one patient care and contact.
Direct patient contact will require the candidate to be able to administer eye medications and diagnostic drops upon training, able to instruct patients on pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as general patient related clerical duties. Knowledge of eye terminology, eye anatomy and physiology is required, but on the job training is provided. Certifications can be obtained in the filed of ophthalmology to include COA, COT, and COMT.
